Oakley SHOVEL Prescription Glasses

SHOVEL Prescription Eyewear

Unbelievably lightweight titanium is matched with Mono Shock hinge technology for true comfort, and if the size of ordinary frames puts the squeeze on you, you’ll be pleased to hear SHOVEL comes in an optional larger size. We increased the lens sizing as well, and combined with refined stem art, it’s an original look you can own.
Flexible hinges are nothing new, and most are nothing special. This is different. We took inspiration from the leaf springs of performance racing machines and went to work with titanium alloys. That’s why the hinges of Oakley SHOVEL bring a whole new level of durability, flexibility, comfort and fit. There’s no constant inward pressure to make welts in your head. Soft earsocks of UNOBTAINIUM® do the job of keeping the frame securely in place while the Mono Shock hinges allow the stems to hyper-flex when necessary, so this frame can take the abuse of a life that goes places.
If you’re looking for PAL (progressive) lenses, the larger lens sizing is a perfect match. Choose Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses and you’ll have a full selection of options, along with the premium clarity and protection you expect from a world leader in optical technology. Whatever lenses you choose, you’ll have a frame that doesn’t just beat the industry standards of comfort and cool. SHOVEL buries them
Oakley is renowned for optical technology, and the company’s innovations in frame architecture have always been the gold standard for precision, performance, durability and design. The latest Oakley breakthrough is a hinge mechanism that comes in two forms: Mono Shock and Twin Shock, developed for Rx eyewear and sunglasses. Inspired by pro racing, the structures are similar to leaf springs used for shock absorption. Mono Shock has a single “tine” (a slender projecting part, like the tines of a fork) that bridges the frame and the ear stem. Twin Shock utilizes two. Here are the key benefits:
Durability:
The peerless architecture is sturdier than conventional hinges because no springs are used. Instead, the mechanism is a solid component that takes advantage of a durable yet lightweight alloy of titanium, a premium metal that resists corrosion.
Flexibility:
Oakley formulated the alloy to be flexible. When you push an ordinary frame stem even a subtle distance beyond its normal open position, you risk breaking the hinge. With Oakley’s new design, the stem simply springs back to where it should be.
Comfort and fit. There is no inward pressure when the frame stems are in their normal open position. Subtle flexibility of the entire frame accommodates a wide range of head sizes.
Distinctiveness:
This is a recognizable design feature, unique in its architecture and distinguishing in its simple beauty.
